Getting to Trujillo

You can choose to come to either by air  or road.

Flying to Trujillo

The flight to Trujillo from Lima is about 50 minutes.  You can fly with ether  or all are large international airlines with good safety records.

Non Peruvians will generally get better fares with Avianca or LC Peru.  You can normally find round trips for $80 – $100.

Flights arrive at Trujillo Airport (FAP Captain Carlos Martínez de Pinillos International Airport) which is located about a 20 minute drive from the city.   The airport is small and very easy to navigate.  At the single airport building exist airport authorized taxi drivers will be waiting at the door.  At the door fixed tariffs are listed for different destinations including Trujillo center and Huanchaco.

Beyond the barrier outside the exit are people waiting to collect arriving passengers and also unauthorized taxi drivers.

Bus to Trujillo

In Trujillo a huge number of bus services take passengers to and from many destinations including Ecuador to the North, the Andes to the East and Lima to the South.   Some companies use the Trujillo bus terminal (opened 2015) whist other bus companies prefer to maintain their own bus terminal.

It is recommended to take a bus with a reputable company.   Many bus services in Peru are excellent boasting bus stewards, fully reclining seats (180 degrees) and snacks, as well as authorized taxi services at their terminals-

The best quality bus services generally charge around $30 for a single jouney.
